leaving HK; when to inform Immigration?

Hello!

We are leaving Hong Kong soon,..when should we inform Immigration? In other words, when do we actually submit our letter saying we are terminating the contract because we are leaving? If we end up leaving tomorrow, for example, can we make the date be the month before that day?

We have found a new employer for our helper so that is not a concern. We are happy to pay her extra etc. I just didn't want to tell Immigration too soon because we weren't sure, and because they will cut her Visa immediately, I believe.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks TC,

I didn't realize it was in the Contract... (Contract is at my husband's office.) Do you know if Immigration is strict about this 7 days notice rule? Just trying to figure out timing of our departure and new family hiring her so she is not left in the lurch!

Now we just have to figure out if we're really moving in a couple weeks! At least she has a new job already.
