my helper asked me last night to sign a "support letter" to allow her to bring her "adult" child here coz she is having problems at home. Although she said this is only a formality so she can get a visa to stay here for 3 months - from immigration, i am getting very suspicious. Have anyone experience this before?

Philippna are allowed to stay in HK for 14days.

see the chart at the bottom

My ex helper asked me for the same in order to get her daughter (early 20's) 90-day visa.

She was hoping that her daughter could get money doing p/t job, of course illegal, during the 3months. She also said to me "my daughter might be able to find an employer if being given 90 days".

Of course I turned her down to sign . Needlessto say she got much grumpier on that day.

thanks - i am always afraid of that - a grumpy/sour face. let's just say, i am not good at confrontations. but on the other hand, i don't want to get myself into some legal problems. Sukiyaki, i noticed you mention "ex" did you let her go coz of the grumpy factor? I think i am being over generous with her - paid her 5k per/mth - that is way above the min wage. don't have dogs/cats. one child who comes home at 3pm everyday. not much to do. she naps too in the afternoon - not that i mind as long as she can manage her chores. i fix my child's breakfast, and lunch, hubby doesn't take bfast. so there isn't a whole lot, and on top of that we travel a lot. so when we are not here, it is basically a holliday for her.

money wise, i loan her 6k, which she has repay only 500, and it has been 6 mths. everytime, she comes up with reasons why she can't afford it this month. tuition fee, someone sick etc.

tell me ps - i am being taken advantage off, aren't I?

yes, debt problem and grumpy/sour face are one of the major reasons to terminate her contract. Pls say "No" properly to your dh's persisitent demand, which is always connected with money if you really don't want to. I know it is difficult but this is business relation between you and her. Does she often ask for such things? if so, frankly speaking, I can see trouble ahead.

With wonderful helper your life turns out to be speechlessly nice and w/vicious one your life gets up side down. sincerely hope you'll find a gentle/reliable one in the next search.

Sorry to say winter 2....you are being taken for a jolly good ride.

You may not like confrontations but at least learn to say NO.....very often to your DH.....especially where loans & visas are concerned...or else you will fall in trouble..legally & financially.

do you think that asking for salary in advance by 5-7 days is bad? ours stopped asking for loans as we got so annoyed (not visibly angry) but finally just kept saying NO. so now it's gone to asking for salary early. one day my husband said he was not happy about it and she had said it was urgent. after his response she said that actually if we don't have the cash, she doesn't mind waiting til pay day. so that was 6 days later. must not have been that urgent then???

People always have the right to ask for something...at the most the reply they will get is a ' yes' or a ' no'. I ensure that I have no regrets later by my decision.

It is upto the giver if he/ she is comfortable with the arrangement.

I dont give into anything I am not comfortable with. I will always stick to the legal & right way of doing things. My Husband & I always discuss everything before we make a decision. If one is not happy about the arrangement then the other does not go ahead with it anyway.

Our DH knows that much about us.... she knows where she stands with us. Its likewise with her.
