Helper holiday

I am a little confused on the holidays to give helpers. If you look under Domestic Helper under "resources" on this website and then click on DH holidays.. it takes you to the labor dept. website. It lists all the holidays on there. This past Wed., May 31st (dragon boat festival) was not listed on there t he labor dept site as a holiday. However, my helper convinced me she had it off and I also noticed lots of helpers off in Central that day. Can anyone clarify what the actual days are that they have off? Thanks.

Wednesday was indeed a holiday and it is, in fact, listed in the section you refer to (see number 7 - Tuen Ng festival?)

For the definitive list, see the government website:

There are two sets of holidays - general and statutory. DHs get statutory holidays, plus Sundays. As Burgundy points out Tuen Ng (Dragon Boat) is a statutory holiday which is shown on the link to DH holidays.

Burgundy's link gives the actual dates for 2006 as the Chinese festivals 'move' according to the lunar calendar. So you have to check the statutory ones first and confirm the actual dates for the year on the general holidays list.
