I have a similar situation to audres on the previous thread...I want to hire a friend’s nanny that went back to the Philippines from Taiwan.

She has previously worked in HK for 2 years and has a HKID. Can anyone please tell me if I can hire her myself with relative ease, or would any of you recommend me going thru an agency? THANKS!!!

I think you can hire her yourself without using an agency. Personally, that is what I would do because I've had a lot of bad experiences with agencies and am beginning to believe it's impossible to find a good one. However, it might be that I've just been unlucky ... But so long as the helper in question has really worked in HK before you should be able to choose whichever suits you best.
