Is this right? re.DH

I should probably know this info, but wanted someone to claify it for me. My DH has been with us almost a year. She told us she had to renew her contract visa on a yearly basis, therefore had to go to Shenzhen or Macau to do so. She supposedly did this whilst we were away in May. She said it was our responsibility, so we gave her $500 for the travel, as we were unaware how much it could possibly be. Now it has just occured to me that she didn't offer any change(if there was any)no receipt for travel etc . My fault for not remembering but can I ask her for receipts now, a few months later (is she still has them obviously which i doubt it) or is this all suspicious? I have absolutely no problems if we are responsible for it...

If you deferred her home leave when she started work for you (so if she didn't go h ome between contracts) then yes, she needs to leave HK within the year. She is supposed to go to her home country but generally Macau or SZ works equally well. Yes, I think you are responsible. A return ticket to Macau is around $350 or so, so she probably took the rest for travelling allowance (ffod and drink?). Shenzhen is less but she probably needed a visa. I think you need to check that she actually went (as you will be in Immigration trouble otherwise) but it's probably a bit late to ask for receipts or change.

Thanks... will ask her today the date of when her visa has been extended to. Yes we did defer her visit back home. Thanks for clarifying this.

You are worried about a few dollars??? It would have cost 4 times that much to fly to Manila. Assuming she did go to SZ, the visa would have cost $150. She would have needed to get to/from the train station. Sure, make sure that her visa is validated or whatever, but is it really worth risking whatever relationship you have with her for the price of a few cups of coffee?

Thanks for all replies. She has renewed the visa, I asked her. TO be honest, I am not worried about a few dollars, like you say Dora, going to Manila would be alot more... was just curious as to how much it could have possibly been.

Thanks anyway
