My helper has only been with us for 2 months. Last week her and her boyfriend called things off. This week they are planning on getting married at the end of the year! He will be in HK for a few weeks.. I was wondering whether the govt. requires that I provide her with any days off for marriage?

I don't think there's any special allowance for 'nuptial leave'. As with any employee getting married one of the things she will need to take into consideration is the time off work. If she has nothing owing to her at around that time she will need to place herself at your mercy - and you are not obliged to respond with kindness. As for the on-off-on thing that does seem to happen a fair bit, and not always with the same partner!

Surely she can have the wedding on a Sunday and make it back in time to make your breakfast on Monday morning.

What, and be allowed to spend the night out? What about the curfew?!

No no ...she could leave early on Sunday morning - get married, have a party and be back before 10pm on Sunday Night - so she could be where she is supposed to be, and make it for breakfast on Monday - and have the least interruption to the household as possible.
