Hello, I'm finaly hiring a DH and we are about to submit the application. The DH said she has an insurance from the OWWA that costs 200 HK, instead of taking a regular insurance. It would be to good to be true in my opinion, than what is this OWWA? It seems like a contract and it's called OFW information sheet with the personal data, the contract particulars and the beneficiary data.
Thank you, if anybody can help.

You would still need to take out the other forms of cover that are required under HK law.

You mean the one that covers the employer's liability and public liability? Or is there any other required by law?

The employer should take out employees' compensation insurance against your liabilities for your helper's injuries at work. This is a requirement under the Employees' Compensation Ordinance. Failure to do so is an offence in law, punishable by a fine and imprisonment.
Besides, when the helper is ill or injured, the employer shall provide free medical treatment to him/her whether or not it is attributable to his/her employment. Free medical treatment includes medical consultation, maintenance in hospital and emergency dental treatment.

Thank you very much, I will take one recommended by Asiaexpat!

You may take a look on QBE's plan that is pretty comprehensive. I took one from QBE's agent. HK$975 for 2 years only. The cover for outpatient is HK$200/visit, HK$4000/year.
