We may return to the US soon and want to bring our helper (filipina). Would appreciate advice on feasability/timing/immigration lawyers.

Don't expect her to stick around once she is 'in'. I don't think you have much chance but I could be wrong - there are so many people in the USA looking for work and the US government is very particular about who gets in for what reason....and housecleaning and child minding is not a job that has a shortage of people able to do it. They also are pretty discriminatory of race based on previous experience - asians from developing countries are treated differently to those who have a life and money elsewhere.

If you trawl through this forum (or do a search using 'US' or 'Canada') you might find one or more of the several existing threads on the same question. Most cover things like the need to pay a 'proper' salary and not the HK wages, plus the other requirements not relevant in HK.
