HKID after DH termination

The reason for her termination is recorded by the ID, provided that the real reason is given (sometimes employers don't give the real reason because, despite the circumstances, they don't want to prejudice the helper's chances of getting another job!) by the employer. Whether that information is used to 'assist' any future employer is doubtful. It certainly doesn't stop the helper from applying for another contract - unless she has a criminal record resulting from her action (or any other action). And generally you get to keep your ID card even though it is cancelled by ID - that is you keep the bit of plastic but it won't get you into Hk the next time you try. Exactly when it is cancelled I'm not sure - probably the ID website would give the answer.

For the record the information is kept on file.

About 12 years ago the sister of my helper (from the Philippines)came to work for a Chinese family (through an agency). She was expected to look after the recruiting family in the evening and at night and had to go to the grandmothers home and look after that plus the grandmother during the day. The grandmother took a violent dislike to her (according to the agency) and she was dismissed after 5 days - official reason given to ID was she could not cook Chinese food, didnt speak Cantonese and had a poor attitude to her work. (The first two items had never been stated by the agency as a requirement of employment)

The agency said they had no responsibility towards her and didnt even find her accomodation for the first night when she was thrown out at 8.00 pm saying as she had a sister she could go and stay with her. We offered to help her, got no where with teh agency and so said we would try and help her find her another employer, but she was so upset she decided to go home.

Eight years later I decided to offer her a contract and submitted the application in the normal way. A couple of weeks later I was contacted by ID(by phone). I was asked if I was aware the girl I wanted to employ had been in Hong Kong before and that she had had her contract terminated and why - and I was asked if I still wanted to go ahead with the application! I replied that I already knew all this and that as I knew her personally this was not an issue for me.

Her application was then approved

By the way I too agree with the comments made in cat soups first post
