Help!!!

Hi. Someone has been using my mobile to rack up loads of idd calls. Prime suspect being my helper, who naturally swears innocence.

I want to know if someone could have hacked my phone or my provider's system, or cloned my phone, and if I were overseas for a period - during which the calls mysteriously stopped - would that affect said hackers?

Can my provider tell from my phone if the calls have been physically made from it or not?

Thanks

If the calls are mostly to PH and some to SG and GH then sounds like ur DH is the prime suspect.

For now I guess you should impose a security code to lock your phone. If you're using PCCW 0060 for IDD, you can activate the security code so you need to enter your password everytime you make a long distance call.

why not call one of the phils number and asked if she knew your helper? if the person knows your helper, then it's definitely your helper.

You're right. After us going to the phone company and messing around for an hour when I could have been getting some much needed sleep... finally she confesses. More than $8,000 worth. And she owes me $7000, and owes other companies

now, you're dilemma is whether to terminate her outright or to try to recover your losses by keeping her on for at least two more months

does your helper insurance cover this?

by the way, how could your helper rack up so much airtime without your knowledge? was she selling your phone for others to use?

some of these DHs can be so stupid. My helper who has been with me for 7 yrs (She is a good helper) has her own mobile phone. One day about 2 months ago, she showed me her phone bill which had about $600 on it. Most of the calls listed were incoming calls. She claimed that she would never rack up that much. I believed her as it never happened before. I even went as far as arguing with the phone company so they ended up sending her a printed version of all these calls. Next thing I know, she stopped the service and changed her number. I never bothered to ask till about 2 weeks ago when the debt collectors started calling. I was so pissed. Apparently they were chasing her to pay the bill. She said that she would pay it slowly. So I asked her if she indeed made those calls. Till today she denies it. By now with finance charges and etc. the bill has turned into $1000. I told her to pay or she goes. So she borrowed money from me to pay for it. I asked her if she thought that by stopping the service she could get away with paying. That is what she believed. Stupid. $8000 and your DH thinks she can get away with it?? Amazing

Our helper uses a prepaid SIM card for her mobile and the calling cards to call home.

If I found my helper using secretly my phone without permission (then lying about it) that would be clear grounds for dismissal. As it is, I don't have IDD enabled on my home phone, as much because I don't want to tempt my helper as I refuse to pay the standard IDD rates from PCCW. There is always a promotion which reduces the per-minute costs significantly.
