To satisfy yourself that you are getting accurate information direct from source, look it up on the HKGov website - there's a Frequently Asked Quesions section there. Or ring them. You'll probably find the answer quicker than waiting for someone else to look it up for you.

(This wasn't meant to sound unfriendly - it's just that part-time help and its consequences has already been covered many times on this forum, so anything more you need to know would be best coming from the horse's mouth, so to speak!)

If you will be caught you will pay fine and few mos and will spend few mos in prison. But I dont think ID will find out as many people hired Part time DH.

No doubt loads of people have PT maids and never get caught but our Find a Maid manager mentioned to me one time that there are loads of maids spending time in prison (and their employers had substantial fines)... I think you also get a criminal record. All it takes is for an enemy of your PT helper or anyone else to report your situation...

DON'T DO IT. YOU FACE IMPRISONMENT AND A HEFTY FINE FOR USING PART TIME MAIDS. IMMIGRATION ARE VERY STRICT ON THIS NOW AND ARE TARGETTING GWEILOS WHO THINK THEY ARE ABOVE THE LAW ON THIS ONE. THE IMMIGRATION WEBSITE EXPLAINS IT VERY CLEARLY - IF CAUGHT, YOU, THE DH AND ANYONE ELSE WILL BE IN SERIOUS TROUBLE AND YOU CAN SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR HK RESIDENCY. IF YOU NEED A CASUAL MAID, USE MERRY MAIDS OR ONE OF THE LEGAL PART TIME MAID SERVICE.

I'm personally aware of only one case that happened about 3 years ago. The maid was imprisoned for 6 months and then deported; and the employer was fined $50,000 and banned from employing another maid (legal) in HK. It's true that the chances of getting caught are low, and that it's more likely that discovery will result from the information provided by another jealous maid than from direct Immigration Dept checks...but still, it it worth the risk? I jaywalk quite frequently but consider the risk as acceptable (police never seem to act even if they are on the opposite side of the road watching me, plus the fine is low anyway - never apprehended yet, and if stopped will probably back off for a while until the sinuses clear and then resume)...but not so with illegal part-time maids.
