Which agent allows helper interviewing?

I've approached two agents and both have only given me the helpers' data on files or on videos.

I've seen that some of you have been able to interview 30-50 helpers in person.

Can you tell me which agent I should use that will allow me to interview helpers personally?

Thank you.

I am amazed to learn that.

Evelyn from AsiaZPat is excellent. Give her your requirements and priorities, and she will screen candidates for you. Then help you set up the personal interviews.

She charges 2,000 for this and all the paperwork, the maid gets charged nothing.

Good luck!

Please use Evelyn - the reason we hired her and set up an agency to supplement the 1000's of ads on our site direct from maids is because of the horror stories we heard from the helpers re: agencies...

And FYI - most of the agencies get their candidates from here...

(Evelyn's info is there too - we charge helpers nothing and employers only 2k...)

Ed,

I may well be wrong but surely if the agencies make less on contract renewals than they have made previously all that will happen is that the DH will have to pay more before they come to HK the first time? I am not for anyone DH or otherwise getting ripped off but if Asiaxpat manages to make a dent in the contract renawl fees it will be interesting to see what happens -personally I think the whole DH business & related laws need a thorough review (for the benefit of all parties) but guess that will never happen.

Interesting point - but there are some agencies who mainly focus on inbound helpers and have never been much into the 'secondary market' so I dont think it will have any impact

Yes the govt MUST put some laws in place to stop this slave trade. They know what is going particularly with the Indonesians being charged up to 7 months wages... they could stop it by simply threatening not to accept any indonesians - that would put an end to it immediately.

Ed,

If some agencies can charge the DH a huge amount to renew but the DH still finds it economically viable to do so surely it can be argued that the rate at which the minimum wage is set is too high - the only people to benefit are those unscrupulous agencies (& similar parties) who can wack rates up ie the DH does not benefit and neither does the employer, if the min wage were less then agencies etc would not be able to over charge? Food for thought, whether you agree or not!

I believe that there should be a complete review of the whole DH hiring process and related laws, undertaken by parties representing all sides (agencies, DH, employers etc), and not just tinkering with one or two issues ie perhaps having different wage levels set according to experience, qualifications (first aid, basic language skills etc), all levies and charges shown on the employment contract (including agency, governmental fees etc), maybe a small levy when the DH exits HK (with the money going to a support fund). Why not also look into the issue of allowing live out helpers, mainland DH and laws allowing DH to remain in HK longer whilst they look for new employers or pursue a legal claim? I understand that surveys show that over half Indonesian DH employers pay below the minimum wage so that means tens of thousands of HK people deliberately who are otherwise law abiding are criminals & break the law!

It is clear from postings on this forum that employers & employees alike often feel hard done by and the present system is not working. Anyway enough of my rant.....

But many of these DH who post in Asiaexpat..... are not finished contract, and Evelyn said they only process finished contract or overseas ones.

I tried to use this site for processing a terminated contract helper, but was told not possible.
