Agency fees - inclusions

I have been quoted $2500 for agency fees which includes 1-time consulate fee, visa fees and 1 year guarantee (no medical). Is this quite reasonable? Comments or links to previous similar threads will be much appreciated.

You can compare with my agency. I paid HK$2,800 for the following: visa, consulate fees, ticket, 2 full medical examinations (one in Indo, one in HK), medical insurance for 2 years, free Sunday curses (baby care, cooking, etc.), ability to change the DH for free two times if things don’t work between us. DH is from Indonesia but speaks good English even though most of Indonesians don’t. Language was my requirement, so the agent did her best to give me what I wanted. All the above-mentioned on top of professional attitude of the agents, reports every week as to on which stage the process was, etc. My DH arrived 2 weeks ago. The agent telephoned me yesterday to ask if I am happy/unhappy about her.

I hired a DH 2 years ago and paid HK$1,500. It was a waste of money!

As far as I remember, the agency deals only with Indonesian helpers. You can check their web site:

And yes, the courses are free for the clients' helpers.

Thanks hatta - it would be helpful if you could give me the contact details of the agent which charges $2500 for handling the papers.

Nuri - thanks for your recommendation - I contacted Sunlight but they've increased the price now to $3300 and charge a fee for replacement helpers.

honestly, an agency that charges only HK$2500 and includes airfare and everything else is probably making money on the other end, at the expense of (a much lower than minimum salary for) the helper.

Unfortunately, for DHs hired directly from their country of origin, it's the only way to get employed here: to pay a lot to an agency THERE.

Every DH that is being employed HERE and pays 10% of the salary, in the beginning of the very first contract had to go through the same procedure.

Direct employment gives a chance to hundreds and thousands of DHs in the Phil and Indo who are desparately looking for job abroad.
