Going to UK for month - husband joins us for last week and we would like to send our helper back to Phillipines but she is refusing to go back. She could go in august to be within the time she needs to go back before her visa expires.
We would much prefer she does go back to Phillipines / somewhere. She works very hard and we would like to treat her to a break. Also, I think it would be far easier for hubbie to be home alone than with helper as he is used to her at home but when I am around.
Any helpful suggestions -

She really doesn't have a choice. Just stand by your decision...after all, you are the employer.

Obviously, she is the employer, but she also appears to be a kind and compassionate human being. Have a frank and honest discussion with your helper about why she does not want to return home. What region is she from? There is political strife in some regions which makes going home an unappealing option at times. There could also be family trouble. This is not your problem, but I would want my helper to be happy and have a rest.
Can she go somewhere else that would make her happy? Could you pay for a friend or relative to come visit instead and they could spend a night in Macau to satisfy the exit requirement?
Honesty and MUTUAL respect between employer and employee will help you both to achieve your goals.

I am not sure you can compel an employee to take her holidays and leave the country because it's convenient for you.

decided that if she doesnt want to go anywhere - trust me, have asked if she'd like a holiday somewhere - eg Macau, another part of Phillipines where family arent residing (the main reason for not wanting to go back is the cost) We've come to an agreement she can go home in July when I will travel again so it is convenient to both of us and she'll have saved up enough money to fulfil family obligations.
