Hello,
We've found a helper that we like but was wondering if we should have her go through a medical check up before or after we sign her contract (before makes sense but what is the usual procedure?).
Also, as we're having a baby, any recommendation as to what sort of medical check up is appropriate?

im no help with the procedure bit, but the usual tests seem to be:-
- blood work - STDs, infectious diseases (HIV, Hep A/B/C etc) - particularly important if she's helping to look after a baby
- chest xrays (tuberculosis, pneumonia etc)
- pregnancy test
- physical examination (to make sure there is nothing that will prevent her from performing normal physical duties)
when you are buying helpers insurance, maybe ask the insurer whether they offer such tests?
