Just earlier I started a thread of "My maid pregnant also...""
So after discussing with our maid, we made a decisoon that she will go back and deliver the baby in Philippines.
We decide to hire another and now philippine consulate asks for employer ID, salaries tax copies etc WITHOUT mentioning anything what they will do with these papers (which under the Privacy Data ordinance) they should say a statement or so. Is it legal for them to collect such data and is it pertinent since HK Immigration ask for same.
Private data should be collected only if pertinent so if Philiconsulate asking for these...is it directly relevant in evaluating the DH contract and suitability???

Do you have to submite tax returns etc. to HK Immigration? In our case, my husband's employer just gave us a letter saying that his salary easily met the requirements of the Immigration Dept. (without mentioning any numbers), and they were perfectly happy with that. .

It is legal for the PH consulate to collect the data, and also by law I think they are required to specify exactly what the data will be used for. But they are a stroppy lot there and whenever I've visited (only ~6 times over the last 5 years) I've always had an argument with them re their inefficiencies, incorrect advices etc etc.
