a flat for my DH?

We are planning with my husband to move in Tung Chung, Caribbean coast. We have 2 kids and wherever we went, we didn't find any appartment with 4 bedrooms. And we actually need 3 bedrooms for us and 1 for a DH. We refuse to let her sleep in the "maid room" which doesn't look good enough.

Anyway. I was wondering if it happens that the DH are sharing a flat paid by, let's say 3 employers togeteher?.

Or do you have any other solutions?

Can you give me some ideas?

This live-out arrangement question has been asked many, many, many times. It is illegal. Again, it is illegal. You will need to find accommodation in which you, your family and FDH can live, not the other way around.

From Immd Dept. website:

Q42: Can an FDH live away from his/her employer's home?

A42: No. An FDH should work and reside in the employer's residence in accordance with Clause 3 of the Standard Employment Contract (ID407).

This question has been asked many many times, however does anyone know what the actual legal consequence is? Noone to date has been able to answer this and does not appear to be on the govt. website. I am not in need of a Domestic at present however if I were to consider I think it would be better for the helper and me if she had her own accommodation.

Everything is relative.

Coming from the West, most of us are less inclined to subject others to conditinos which we can't accept.

My helper has been with us for over 4 years. She has her own room and bathroom. Prior to that she worked in a Chinese household as a care giver to an elderly lady. She voluntarily stayed in the same room as the lady. They had a very close relationship, to the point where she was treated like a daughter and was heart=broken when the elderly lady passed on.

Friends of mine who are from HK live in a small 2-bedroom flat with no 'maid's quarter'. They both work and have a little boy. The helper was fully aware that she has to share the same room with the their son before she was hired. Their helper happens to love children and develops a close bond with their son.

I have learned that most ladies from the Philippines enjoy close knit family relationship. It pleases them more to have employers who treat them with respect and as a member of their household. They are very adaptable to living conditions.

Lady Wolferine's suggestion is excellent if you can afford it. Otherwise, you need to be realistic given the high cost of real estate in HK.
