Too early to fire or wait for improvement?

My maid of 3 weeks has been dishonest and done the following despite setting the house rules:-

- bringing her brother's clothes back to wash in our washing machine

- taking 5 packets of pocket tissues at one time and when asked if she was in need of tissues she declined before confronting her of my discovery

- damaged my kids' new wardrobe and didn't report to us immediately

- when asked on Day 1 if she had any relatives working in HK, she only mentioned her brother and aunt. On Day 3 she told me she's forgotten to mention her mum is also out in HK (her mum has been working for the same employer for 16yrs so find it hard to believe that she could forget an immediate family member) and requested to take Saturday off as her rest day so she could see her mum.

Besides the above, her work performance is lousy (doesn't follow instructions, not very work smart) even though she's a finished contract maid who had worked with the same employer for 4 yrs. I really don't know whether to give her more time to improve or to start looking for another.

I agree with green in every aspect.

Having a slow, dumb & silly DH is one thing, who you hope with time will improve, but having a dishonest DH is far worse. That is one thing I believe wont change.

We fired ours after two weeks as we couldn't trust her to look after our child. Within the first week, he picked up "phone habits" and we found two significant bruises on him. So, I don't think there is a set time to firing a DH. If you are a working mum, you don't want to deal with the hassles of an incompetent/dishonest DH.
