Hi, anyone out there who experienced having a DH who really got pregnant during their 2yr contract?? will we need to pay for the expenses for the BB once delivered? don't think she can afford the formulae and baby stuff in HK. What about medical expenses? can she use public hospital?

If you refer to Chapter 6 of the document at the link that follows you will find some help. Basically, though, apart from the reduced level of pay while on maternity leave I think you'll find that you are not personally responsible for any of her expenses. If she has a HK ID card (which she certainly should have) she can make use of the public hospital system. Good luck. I have a strong feeling you are going to need it!

You are not binded by any law to pay for the care of the baby . Whatever little financial or in kind help you would like the give to your helper I'm sure would be greatly appreciated, and such kindness will be returned, somehow.. someday.

Is your helper married? Did she tell you she wants to have the baby in HK? How did you handle the after baby live-in/out situation?

Simple. Our got preganant we called Labor dept. and they gave very good replies but favors them. Nevermind. Just tell her to take her 10 weeks outside your house (we made a mistake in the beginning to let her stay in the house and our groceries bill + uninvited guests increased).
Pay the reduced (80%) salary during the 10weeks.
Agree on a mutual date of resumption of duty and tell her to sort baby etc out before resuming.
For mine her husband came and they are leaving out and he will take the baby back.
She pays all expenses and is entitled to hospital maternity etc.
Sit back and enjoy your 10 week freedom.
Infact my wife and me are enjoing it with nobdy around...have had some naughty fun as well!!!
