2 yo not taking to new helper

Our almost 2 year old hated our helper when she first came to us. If I ever tried to leave she would scream the place down. I had resigned myself to always taking her with me until one day our helper said to me look just go or she will never get used to me. I started with saying I am popping to the supermarket and will be back in 15 mins and I was. She screamed the whole time I was gone.We upped the time and while I was gone my helper would make a point of doing what my little loved to do like baking or jigsaws. The time she cried lessened and now she loves her. It took time especially as my daughter is very stubborn but I mostly put it down to my helper who won her over though I know at times she was hurt by my daughters behaviour. Its not easy, she just needs to get used to her. Good luck!

I too had the exact same problem with my almost 3 year old. The first two weeks she would look at her and say "i don't like you" or "i don't want you in my house" which obviously is not acceptable. I always insisted she apologise and explain we don't speak to her like that. I kept hoping that she would come around as she would scream the entire time I left her with the helper. In time, with patience, she came around and within 6 months she refused to come out with me, preferring instead to stay at home with the helper! I think you can't expect them to understand this new relationship quickly. Let them develop it on their own but you do need to push them a little to start. If you always take her with you, she will never get used to it. Good luck and I am sure she will come around in time.
