I have been looking for a new helper for a few days and have been contacted by some Nepalise helpers. Does anyone know anything about that? What would be the differences between Nepalise and helpers from the Philipines? Are there cultural differences i should be aware of?Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions

i believe there are as many cultural differences between Nepal and the Philippines like Peru and Canada; or England to Moarroko for example

for some employers they prefer Philippine DH more, maybe becuase they are aware that filipinos are very well trained for housework, and they in nature tidy as well.
I used to have Filipino DH, for cleaning the house she is very good, and its really clean, then I hired an indonesian helper, then I can see the difference, she dont know how to make the house clean and tidy, she just though cleaning is wiping the furniture and moing the floor, she dont even lift up the stuffs on the table when she wipe it.
But then I know every person is different, but talking about culture, I prefer the filipino maid more, I am finding another filipino again.

Be aware! Immigration no longer give DH visa to Nepalese.

I heard that Dr's in the US prefer Filipino nurses because they are considered much more gentle and patient while handling patients. I couldn't figure out why it was related to a particular nationality though. I would think it would depend on your upbringing, family/ local environment you grow up in. Not sure if the same could be applied in here in situation for Dh's.

Well, I believe that Filipino are more organized and more concern in doing their job. Abby78 are you really finding one? My sis who has a Degree in Physiotherapy wish to work in HK even as a DH. Cheers!!!

I think each individual is different to a certain degree. I have friends who have nothing but issues with PH DH. One of my friends has a great PH helper. I hired an Indonesian and she is so meticulous and tidy and great with my daughter. Two other people in my complex have Indonesian also, and they are really happy. So, I think you have to judge it yourself. I interviewed about 8 or 10 DH. Maybe 4 PH and 6 INDO.

I had both, Phil and Indo. The Phil (22 yo) was very careless, untidy, and even had hair lice when she first arrived from the the Phil. I tried to make things work for 8 months and then gave up. The Indo I have now keeps herself and her room cleaner than my whole house and has great sense of responcibility. he is also 22 yo. So, I can't agree with some of other posts above.

Every country and every peoples have different type of working style and different personal attitude. so far as concern there is no any misunderstanding or have any problem with the employer having nepalese domestic helper. I think they are so polite, kind, gentle for the children and good house take carrer due to the culture as well the nature.

Nepalese are great helpers - HK has many of them as they are the children or grandchildren of the Ghurkas or the from laborers brought in during the 1970's fulfill a manual labor shortage in HK. Unlike Filipino's many Napalese are legally able to be PT DH as they have the right of abode or permanent residency in HK several even have UK passport - making it easier if you wish to have your DH travel overseas with you.
As for work ethic extremely helpful, timely reliable and friendly and type A cleaners.
Many Napelese get positions in service industries as like many other South Asians if they were educated in Hong Kong they can speak Cantonese with fluency but cannot read as the education system until recently didn't emphasize reading and writing Chinese in the education system for them.

I agree, every individual is different. My helper worked for a Canadian family prior to us, and they were horrible to her. We are Canadian, and she can't believe the difference. So the Country they are from has little to do with their experience.
I must say from MY experience, I have had nothing but problems with PH helpers. I chose Indonesian
