Dear all


Thanks for reading my post. We will be arriving in August. My wife seems also to have secured a postion, not confirmed, and we will need a maid/helper/amah. How do we do this before we have all our documentation cleared ?


Should we go to an agency with just our passport details?

Not in answer to your actual question, but do you already have your future home address confirmed? It needs to be specified in the contract because that's where the helper must live and the only place where he/she can work.

Thanks TC. No. We have no idea even which area yet alone which place. If my wife gets a job quick then at least the kids are all school age. But still it will be tough. 3 kids + one dog.

Save some cash and hire direct - the helper will assist with the contract etc...

if you want to save money but be hassled on processing, direct hire the helper.


If you want hassle free but a little more expensive (around HKD3,000 plus or minus, depending on the agency), go through an agency
