It is a disaster for working parents with kids who are temporarily out of a helper. Have any of you considered daytime child caring / babysitting?

When you say "you" do you mean helpers? They can't because of visa restrictions. If you mean other expats there have been/are people who have offered "home daycare" to children under 5 - but is very difficult to maintain although I hear there are still a few around. You have to remember it is a highly demanding job, so you have to be committed and can't flit of yourself on hols or take sick days. You have to have suitable premises at home or rented and be able to offer safe, affordable care with a good program for the kids. Pretty hard to do with rents in HK. You mustn't use your own helper either to take care of the children you have in your home as this would be having them work in your business.
Most people in between helpers just have to stump up the money for someone from a nanny agency Rent a mum or the like, get the help of friends. alter their work for a period of time or in really dire circumstances get granny on a plane!

Hi ness, I think you are mistaken. I have been through all these and am (now) a full time mom at home. Since my son is now having his summer holiday we are both quite bored, therefore I was thinking of offering daytime childcare / babysitting. I do not mean opening up a child care centre or anything of the like Anyway, I shall quit and I hope my good intent would not be in anwyway misinterpreted!
