Hello
We are hiring a new helper.
The helper that we have selected last night as we were firming up details seemed to be pressing us on using our computer as she was allowed to do this at her previous employers home. Is it normal for your helpers to use your home computers in their spare time? (I don't have any private information on the computer).
She also said she was willing to call us whatever we wanted but she would be more comfortable calling us by our first names. What do your helpers call you?
She also said they currently have access to broadband, and were wondering as dh and I have broadband, if they would have access to it as well, particularly tfn. Do your helpers have access to the filipino network?
Thank you very much. With my first helper, I was a crap employer, with my second, I think I was pretty good, and with this one, I want to get off on the right foot. Then again, I don't want to downgrade her from her last situation, but I don't particularly want to put myself in a position where it costs $5,000 to install it, either. (she has a television in her room, but it only plays dvds).
Thank you.

I let our DH use our home PC. There is nothing on it, and as I work in IT I know what to do when there's a problem. She uses it for email and, more recently, dating websites! Can't blame her really, and she only uses it when she has time (comparable to watching TV in her room). We also had Now TV installed for her in her room.
One point- like anyone that doesn't know what they are doing, she tends to inadvertantly download/install a lot of crap (often from foresaid dating sites) which I then get rid of. I am sure she is embarassed by some of it. When the children are older and start using it too, I may have to restrict access (i.e. cannot download anything) but for now it's fine.
Like I said, there's nothing on the PC and I know my way around it so I am fine her using it. I would never let her or anyone use one of my work machines or anything containing sensitive data.
