thai domestic helpers

Hello

I am looking for a thai helper, as I have heard they could be a little better than filippinas. I have not been successful with filippinas, so wanted to try a different nationality. The problem is where to find them. Does anyone know? I look on asiaxpat every day, but there are only 4 in comparison to the 4000 filippinas! Dollar saver doesn't have any and the only agency I have found who has them is Proxy maid and the ones they have don't speak english.

Can anyone help? I only have a month or so to find one as my filippina has resigned to go back home.

Tks

Lucie

Try contact Thai Consulate Labour Section at 2530 2343. They deal with Thai DH and they surely can find a decent Thai DH for you. No scam and you'll get a fair deal. Good luck!

Oh come on!

It is a purely statistic thing.

Presuming that a certain % of PH, ID, TH, US, UK, JP people are not good workers, then it stands to reason that as there are so more Filipinas in HK than Thai, there will be more Filipina duds!

Stands to reason.

useful answers would be much appreciated...not ridiculous ones from people who appear to have too much time on their hands.

There are not a lot of Thai helpers in HK - and from what I have heard when they finish contracts they generally find new employers quickly through word of mouth from their employer.... no doubt a lot of people like the added benefit of Thai meals!!!

Lucie,

But if you take the response from maxis in context you will realise how useful it could be...

In your original post you said (the capitals are mine for emphasis) "...I have HEARD they COULD be a LITTLE better than...". No proof (just hearsay), no guarantees (just might be), and not much difference (just a little better). For such a meagre difference (if at all) why tar all Filipinas with the same brush? There are many thousands of employers in HK who are happy with their Filipino helpers - although I admit to that being an assumption on my part. No problem with looking or a Thai (or any other nationality) helper, but if there are sourcing difficulties it might be worth considering another Filipino helper. Good luck with whichever path you tread.

Also Lucie,

Perhaps you should consider the reasons that you suspect that Thai people are "better" than Filipina's. For example domestic duties washing, ironing, better cooks, better cleaner, better childcares. Or whether it is personal/cultural aspects such as obey instructions, quieter, obedient, behaviour etc.

Then, when you know what traits you are looking for based upon the deficiencies you have found in your past helper, consider those when interviewing based on the individual, rather than generalising. As stated by TC, there are thousands of people in HK who a re very happy with their Filipino helper.
