Hello,
We have found a helper who seems to fit quite well with our household. The one problem is that she is on contract to her current employer until Aug.17, after which they are terminating her contract due to a 'restructuring of their family' (which means they've discovered that the 14 yr old boy she has been taking care of can actually take care of himself - so they no longer need her). I remember reading about other circumstances in which the Labor/Immigration departments (I'm not sure which to go to for this) did not require a helper to go back to the Philippines for the usual 6 weeks if the reasons for terminating the contract suited some criteria of theirs. Does anyone know if the employer terminating this contract because of 'family restructuring' would fit within these criteria? If not, we would not be able to hire her until mid-October which may be too long for us to wait.
Thanks for any advice you could give me - I'm a complete newbie with this!

Definitely go back to Philippines.
The ff.reasons are the only one who can process their applications.
- Employers leaving HK for Good/Relocation
- Financial Problem
- Employer's Death
All the reason said above are to be verify by the ID whether it's true or not specially "Financial Reason"

deliran - We hired our helper under similar circumstances. We wrote a letter to the Immigration department requesting that she does not need to go back to the Philippines - they were nice enough to grant our request.

Thanks for your responses. I'll call the immigration department today!

" no longer needed her services" is also accepted in most cases as long as it is well supported in written form ( they sometimes, would call up the ex- employer for confirmation) so it is important that what was written is in sync with what will be said.
