I have had some unfortunate problems with helpers and had to terminate four in the last two years. Three of them I was forced to terminate when loan collectors began calling me in the middle of the night and coming to my door trying to collect money.
I have heard that I will now be blacklisted as a 'serial terminator' and prevented from employing any future helpers. Is this true and if so, would it help if I could submit evidence such as letters from collection agencies to the relevant departments?
Thanks.

It sounds feasible but whether it is factual or not is difficult to tell. Best I think to wait until you need to lodge the next application with Immigration and then provide the evidence then. I think if you simply raised the question out of the blue now you'll get a negative answer that might or might not reflect what might actually happen at some future point.

Thanks for your suggestion. I'll wait and hold my breath when I submit my next application!

I would not worry, the person who gave you such information was incorrect. I have known people to terminate many more than four in two years for both good reason and some for not very good reasons at all and have never been rejected by Immigration as 'serial terminators' just go ahead and apply again, no one will bat an eye lid.

This term "serial terminator" sounds pretty funny..
"I'll be back!"
sorry..

And sorry..yes i don't think you are on a blacklist. And if they wanted to put u on a blacklist they should actually ask you to explain the situation before they stop u hiring any more helpers.

Ypu may be in the black list ( 4 is the maximum, if I remember correctly) however, as always it is on a case to case basis.
If you do not want to find out, have your spouse sign as the employer.

NO black list exists and if I were you call immigration for verification. Souffle Queen your information on this occasion is wrong.

swimmers, I beg to differ but I do not think so.
Again, for emphasis it is on a case to case basis, as it should be.

Rumour rather than fact - No such list so you have nothing to worry about.

Blacklisting, I am afraid is not just a rumour. I could name at least three employers ( and even more helpers) I could give accounts as to why the employers were blackisted but this is not the point of the thread and I do not want to hijack HKG888's thread.
HKG888, I made some phone calls and discussed your situation and I cannot get a 100% whether you will be allowed to sign for another contract or not. Ypou have had valid reason for firing them as their personal activities/financial mess causes you and your family disturbances. The Immigration may say it is between you and the helpers as it is not a breach of contract or our (a helper's )limitations of stay to borrow from a finance company. In my earlier post I suggested to have your spouse sign as the employer to avoid any hassles.

I would suggest that there should be a blacklist in some cases..... but would agree with scottydog.
Mother in law must of hired at least eight helpers in less than two years and she is not on any blacklist and has until now never been prevented from hiring.
Unlikely you have anything to worry about HKG888

I don't think there is a "blacklist " either. I know people who have had many more helpers terminated than 4 in 2 years!
The only thing you DO have to worry about are "good helpers"..... especially those who have always finished contracts. According to the advice of my helpers, they say that THOSE good helpers will always ask how many times this employer has terminated in the past. Most of them will NOT sign with these employers who terminate frequently. That's the downside... however, you never know, fate is on your side, and you get to meet a GREAT helper who would love to work for you.
Like my friend, she FINALLY found a good helper, and that's the 5th one since last November.
Good luck.

My last two years have been a nightmare with DH's.
I have had more than 4 DH's for sure & I can say I have not been blacklisted by Immigration. If they had, they would have to give me a very good reason for it.
However, at the PH consulate I have seen a 'bad employers ' list at the counter where you give the contracts to be stamped & the list is checked before the contracts are accepted. I have no idea how the list is made up.

Thank you everyone for your replies.
I've interviewed a few DH's but haven't met the right person yet. However, I do feel better knowing that when I decide to hire again that I most likely won't have the problems I was warned about.
Thanks!

actually there is a black list as far as i know but mosdt of the people on THAT list have been known to abuse their helpers.. ie physical/sexual abuse.... and some employers do have some really vague reason for firing their helpers..
and if HKG888 has enough evidence or documentation to prove that to the ImD, i think that'll be taken into account..
BUT: heplers cant borrow money from finance agencies if they have ONLY worked for their employer for less than 3 months... but then again the helper couldhave owed that money BEFORE she started working for that employer..
question for HKG888: did you hire you DH from the phils as in they have never been here before? OR did you hire them here in hk and have had a personal interview with them

Dear Aloneforaday
I did hire the DH's from HK and asked if they had any outstanding debts during the interview. They all replied 'no'. However, I later discovered that they were carrying these loans before working for me. The last DH I discovered had a monthly repayment that was more than her salary and food allowance combined. After she left I also received phone calls from her friends that she had borrowed money from as well who were looking for her.
