Have found a helper who was terminated from her last employers - she had been working for them for 6 years - didnt want to pay long service and also are getting divorced hence why they let her go....however they dont want to write a letter saying it was due to financial reasons - as they are worried that they wont be able to epmloy another helper for some time is they tell immigration this.
she went back to the philippines about 4 months ago so doesnt want to go back now - and we need her to start ASAP - im 7 months preg and need to rest more...
any ideas on how to speed up the process - really cant wait 4-6 weeks and her nor I want her to go back to the philippines - would rather she starts work asap..
also if she does have to go back to the philippines - who pays for her flight - as she wouldnt be officially working for us as her visa will still be being processed so we pay for it or not (she hasnt asked for it but want to be prepared!!)
thanks for the advise!

The employer who terminated the DH has to pay for the air fare back to the philippines - but not for the fare back to HK.
You can try to speed up the process in writing a letter to the Immigration department explaining your situation and ask them to grant an exemption.

thanks lace...
another question - does she really need to go back to the philippines - can she stay in hk and wait for her visa and once approved just pop over to macau? anyone know?

qwerty,
not too sure on all the rules, but if the previous employer terminated the contract early then it is only under VERY special circumstances that they will allow her to stay while all the paperwork is being processed.
I was in the same situation several years ago (pregnant too) and my helper could not stay in hk because her previous employer terminated her contract early. I had to wait 6 weeks for her to come back. maybe if you write a letter to immigration explaining your situation then they may be more lenient. however, i'm not too hopeful.
and yes, you are responsible for paying for her airfare back to hk.
maybe you could get hold of a part time for the time being to at least do your housework for you? i'm 7 months preggies too so i know how hard it is. good luck!
