Hi Giababy,

you DH has to get an ' emigration clearance' on her passport from Mumbai.

To do so, she has to have the contract, ticket, some amount of fees & travel insurance done from Mumbai ( the insurance agents are just outside the emmigratation clearance building)

She will have to go to the office early morning as its a mad rush & submit her documents & insurance & then gets the emmi clearance stamp after 3 days.

All that is not easy, I have to say.

Or to make it easy, get an eagency to do all the dirty work for you & pay them a lump sum.

Once the visa comes through her in HK, you DHL it to her & tell her to get here with the visa & her PP.

All the best...hope it works out for you...the whole process takes time...so be patient!

Yes the HK laws of hiring a DH applies to them...once u have all the paperwork done properly getting a visa from hk is not a prob, prob is getting all ecnr clearances from india if the dh is under 30.

GiaBaby,

Whatever I wrote about is only the Indian side of it. That is all seperate.

The contract has to be signed by DH & employer on a HKG contract. Go to Immig here & get the forms, there are plenty to fill with your Dh info.

Once your Dh is here, you have to get her Insurance done anyway ( irrespective of the travel Insurance done in India) Tax here in HKG has to be paid by all employers when the visa is nearly processed, once again you will be advised be Immig clearly on that.

You seem unsure on the procedure to be followed her, may I advise yo to go to Immig tower ( Wanchai) & speak to an Officer there at the enquiry section. They are very informative.

The Indian bit is what I have written above. HKG Immig knows nothing of it.

smsm...thanks for confirming that Emmig clearance in India is only required for Dh's under 30...I wasnt too sure of that.

So, id the Indian DH is above 30...emmig clearnce will not be reqd in India...gosh I hope you are right...makes it so much easier to hire an Indan from India. The govt bldg in Mumbai is a thorough madhouse ( sorry to say...but been there a few times & went absolutely nuts...all I did was run pillar to post to get work done.!)

hi... ecnr clearance is required for all the age group ie u will have to get it stamped on the passport that ecnr cleared but above 30 is easy to get it....there wont be many ques asked...they will do it without much fuss...but if shes under 30 then its really difficult to get it done...

Ok ..thanks a lot for you inputs. So what i understand is that i must try to get 30 n above maid which im not so interested in. Also HK taxes would be how much + insurance. Since it makes sense to hire indian maid if you paying less than what u pay a foreign DH here. u know what i mean hope all this works less than 4000 hk / month.

Also taxes to be paid must be annual can u pls guide me.

hi

i will try to get the instructions done in one post

first of all the 30 year rule no longer applies for hongkong, i am very sure about that because a friend of mine just got a 22 yr old maid fm india and it was cleared by the embassy here in hongkong.

1)ok after you have selected the helper you want to employ, please ensure that she has a valid passport at this stage or else she will have to apply for one, next please send her for a thorough medical to see that she is medically fit as medical can be quite expensive in hongkong especially if she is pron to sickness and weak. if possible get her to work with you parents or inlaws to see if she is really capable, then finally sit together and fill in the contract and various application, expereince forms, get her signature on all the relevant pages of the contract, preferable in the presence of a witness.

2)now first this after this is to get the 4 contracts endorsed by the indian consulate in hongkong (fee 150), indian consulate keeps one copy and returns 3 copies to you.

3)you can now submit your application to the h/k imm dept, please only submit one contract, 2 copies of the contract are to be retained for employer and employee.

4)if all documents in order you should get an acknowledhement in about 4 to 5 days and a notice for collection in about 5-6 weeks.

5)on collection of visa you have to pay the visa fee of 165 hkd plus a leys imposed by govt of hksar on all employers of DH's (levy is 9600 hkd )payable in 4 installment over 2 years of the contract.

6)you can either do this step in parallel or after you have the visa in hand insurance back home in india to obtain her ECNR, although now a days i believe you do not need ECNR to come to hongkong as renewed my passport and there is no ecnr on the new one and when i asked about it i was told ecnr no longer required, passports are being issued without the ecnr page.

after this please buy a ticket for the DH.

and then she can fly to work with you

7) after she is here be sure to get her domestic helper insurance, this required by law and cost abot 800 to 900 $$ for the comprehensive cover, however this is not really sufficient and u have the government hospitals to take care of major illness whenever.

3)you will also have to get her a hongkong id card within a month and open a bank account for her salary to keep a paper trail, account can be opened with a contract only no need for the hkid card.

pheew that was long

anyways hope it helps

regards

Ryan
