My family is going through the process of hiring our current dh"s husband to come work for us here in Hong Kong. Because he ended his previous contract early, immigration made him go back to the philippines and wait for his new work visa. My problem is that the Philippine consulate requires proof of a plane ticket from Manila to HK for him in order to surrender his papers and I am having difficulty getting that ticket. One travel agent said they need proof of his work visa which, we cannot get until the paper work goes through. Can anyone advise me on this?

Buy an open ticket in his name to any travel agency here. It should be as simple as that. The only reason I could think of why the agent asked you a proof for his work visa is that tickets for domesstic help are slightly lower priced than the regular ones.

If you still have difficulty getting a ticket, keep in touch and I am pretty sure it could be arranged in no time at all.

there is a travel agency in the same building where the Philippine consulate is, they issue an open ticket there, they call it ticket voucher, thats what they need in the consulate. I undergone same situation before, I paid like 1,300HK$ roughly for, thats only one way ticket Phils-hong kong...but when my helper got the visa it happened that the ticket prices are higher so i ended up paying additional money so that they will book the sit for her.

Try Worldwide House in Central. I just got a one-way open-ended ticket (Manila-HK)there for HK$1100. (There's a few located on the 2/F, and their prices should be around the same.) Instead of an airticket, get them to issue a Ticket Exchange Voucher (TEV) in your DH's name, which the Philippine Consulate will also accept for documentation purposes. Once the HK visa is issued (4-6 weeks), you contact the HK travel agency to book the date of travel (at least 3 days before the travel date) and then you can send the original TEV along with all the other docs to your DH in the Philippines. The DH can then pick up the airticket at the airport in Manila.

Does the TEV have to be in my prospective name? What if she decides to no-show? Anyone know if can then re-use the ticket for another helper? Thanks
