Domestic helper holiday

most certainly tell her that you wont be paying for those days - I think that might put a perspective on it... We do give our helpers 3-4 wks off a year - but that is by choice and I would not at all be happy if they pulled a stunt like that... Just say, she either has to work those days when she is back (Sundays, I guess - which is really tought I know..) or no pay (best solution in my books..)

Maybe phone her or text her as it's cheaper and inform her you wont be paying her for the extra days off, this might speed up her recovery.

You can not ask her to work Sundays on her return.. it is illegal. It certainly sounds as if she is pulling a fast one. In regards to paying her sick leave the law applies to Hong Kong if she is sick while on holiday off shore you have no obligation to pay her. Providing you think she is being untruthful which seems to be the case, on her return I would dock the extra days off from her salary and if you have ever get proof to prove that she was being dishonest I would fire her. My helpers have worked for us for many years and would never consider pulling such a stunt and neither would I with my employer. Of course having said that if they were telling the truth I would have no problem with it.

if she is a responsible helper she will be back on the exact date.if her reason is typhoon and she is sick,9 days is quite long.2-3 days is reasonble.i agree with moppet, send her sms saying that u cannot pay her extra days in phils.maybe by saying that she will come back asap.
