Put a TV in her room and tell her that you think you both need some space of your own.

Agree with Moppet. It's not very expensive to get a smal LCD screen and her own cable. DVD players are also very cheap nowadays. She'll probably appreciate her privacy as much as you do.

oh dear.. nowhere at all? hook up to a window or something? I though I helper's room was small... How about TV in the kitchen - a few friends have done that.

Otherwise TV for yourself in your room - not great, I know..

I think it is totally reasonable to want some alone time. I often escape to our bedroom, not because I think out DH is 'not human', but to unwind without having to make conversation (also true when we have houseguests for weeks on end).

Could you get the small tv hooked up in the kitchen or another room for your helper?

Simple - your house, your employee, you make the rules. Change of circumstances....... inform your maid that she is no longer able to watch TV in your living room when you or your guests are there.

no JJChan it is not really that simple - we all want good relashionship with our helpers and changing rules is a tough one - of course it will upset them. Kylie - both I and MRSL asked - how about putting it in the kitchen for her? You have kitchen, right? It is a bit ridiculous if you end up in your bedroom with a small tv every night and your helper with the big one in the living room on a comfy sofa?

Agree with JJChan. Be honest with your helper and let her know that u do not want her to watch your tv when you are in the house and tell her why. Do it politely. Your are the employer and it is YOUR house. Tell her she can watch it when you are not there.
