We will be terminating our DH tmw and would like to know if she needs to report to the Immigration Dept tmw before her departure or we only need to advise Immigration within 7 days?
Thanks for your replies.

My helper has requested to allow her to stay another 2 weeks so she can look for another employer. Am I supposed to give her the $100 allowance for 14 days? Am I able to refuse her request? Also, what about the rtn airfare? How should this be issued or can cash equivalent be acceptable?

I terminated my maid last month. I paid her final salary + 1 month in lieu of notice, untaken leave, food and travel allowance of $100 and provided her with an airticket (which was an e-ticket) as she could only remain in HK for 14 days after termination (unless special circumstances like terminated for financial reason, employer leaving hk - then she could stay longer at the discretion of the immigration). With the airticket, it should be an open one way ticket where she could change the date. I also gave my maid an extra $200 as a rebooking fee (which was the penalty quoted by the travel agent) if she wanted to change the date. If your maid wants cash equivalent then show her the quotation of the cost of airflight and get her to acknowledge the quote. Also make sure you have a witness present when making final payment.

be careful if you give her a cash payment for the ticket. if she stays another 14 days and uses up the money, she still has to leave HK....and its up to the employer to send her home and you could potentially have to pay double for the ticket. I got this after the immigration dept as i had a similar situation. the immigration officer advised me of the above and suggested that i pay a little more for a more flexible ticket to avoid problems.
