My helper is renewing her contract but wants to stay in HK to do it.She said she needs to go to the consulate with the papers first before immigration. She said she needs to pay the consulate today when she goes there. Is that right and how much do i need to give her?

Yes she's right. 1 month before the previous contract ends, your helper can start the renewing process.
She goes to the consulate first, I don't know what it is, then she goes back about 1 week later, to get it. then goes to immigration right away to submit her application for renewal, and along with all your documents.
You didnt' say what nationality.
But my filipina helpers = Consulate charges: $ 297.50 Then immigration charges: don't have the receipt in front of me... wasn't over $ 200.... and then there is still the OWWA from the consultate that was $ 200.00 HKD.
Then you pay the levy when the immigration approves the renewal.... (takes 2 weeks from the immigration submission.... they make an appointment for your helper to return to pick up the visa).

She goes to consulate for authentication the contract, for Indonesian helpers HK$320, Immigration visa fee HK$160 with no receipt but the amount is written down in her passport the same page with her visa.
