We are in the process of terminating our helper who has become unreliable, disrespectful and erratic to the point of endangering our children. Although she seemed pleased as punch to be terminated at first, she is now irate and is reporting us to the labour board. We gave her one month salary and booked a ticket to go home for her. As far as I can see, there is nothing for her to report but if she lies to them, do we have any way to challenge it?
Any tips on termination (we really never wanted to have to do this) would be much appreciated.

If she signed for the one months salary (proof you gave it to her) and you have the receipt for the ticket, she has no case against you, since you have complied under the law.
If she hasn't actually signed anything showing she has been paid, then you may have a problem of "proof" and a lesson learned,..... get signatures!!
Good luck

Yeah, I've learned to get signatures too.
