Hi
Does anyone provide a food allowance to their helper. If you do, do you still allow them rice, oil and other basics even though you are pay them the food allowance?

Agree with Cara. Also, whenever our helper does not want to eat what we are having, she just picks up something for herself at the supermarket when she's doing our shopping. People have different approaches, depending on what works for the family and helper. This thread may help;

We give our helper $500 a month food allowance. He gets everything with that. He doesn't cook for us so isn;t having to cook 2 meals a day, he just does his own. He prefers the allowance as he eats very different things to us, we have very much a European diet.

We eat a simple dinner at home for 3-4 days a week ( Western, Thai, Chinese or Japanese cuisines), so helper eat the same meal and if there is an extra portion, she will keep for her lunch.
When we go grocery shopping, helper will add her other meals' groceries, which goes into my grocery bills. She has been with me for several yrs and keep to simple meals when cooking for herself.
