I have not even change my civil status from single to married, not i would like to ask if anybody has any idea about appliying for a working permit in canada am i allowed to use my maiden name even if i fill up in application form as married in my marital status, would this complicate my applications, if not then what is the best thing to do, Thanks pls. HI cindy

because none of your legal documents list your married name, i don't think it will be a problem at all.

i am married, but still go by my "maiden" name. it has never been a problem for me when travelling or moving countries.

when applying for the working permit in canada, i would use the name listed on your passport and the rest of your legal documents, which seems to be your maiden name.

if you are really concerned, if you go a google search you will find the official website for the live in caregiver program (which i assume you are applying under) and you can submit your question there and get an answer from them.

i hope your employers make the job offer quickly and you can get to canada soon. pack some warm clothes!

In Canada, as long as you are using a name honestly, you can choose to use either your maiden name, your husband's name or a hyphenated version of both family names. I use my husband's name, my older sister uses her (our) maiden name, and my younger sister hyphenates the two family names.

When you submit any documents to the Canadian government, make sure that you state your marital status as 'married' and include your husband's name.
