If you are paying from your own salary, no.

Dear evildeeds,

thanks for the reply, the company has gave me an non-accountable case allowance for $12000 for the rent and the rental agreement is stamp. so still not deductible for my salary ??

If you are provided with a housing allowance then the housing allowance itself is not subject to tax. But rental paid is not deductible.

Gisajob, it must be written into your working contract and it's the amount paid for housing that is not taxed, not the whole amount reimbursed by IRD.

Dear evildeeds, and GisaJob

thank you for the reply, I had ask my company they told me that the contact stated that the amount of money $12000 paid is for housing but not clearly stated as housing allowance, it is stated under Non-accountable cash allowance which is taxible I think ?? so by all means that I pay tax for the the money given as "housing benefit" and cannot get any reduction by presenting rental contract and receipt???
