Hi everyone
Tried to post on my previous thread 'should i terminate DH contract' but wasn't able to....
Just wanted to say thanks for all your advice and give a quick update if you're interested :-) As our DH does most things well and has great qualities we decided that we would try to improve communication and carry on through the contract. Today when I paid her, she gave me 1 month's notice to break contract! She is going to return to the Phillipines to go back to college as most of her friends have now moved to Canada to work, she wants to do the same. At least I know now why her heart wasn't in it and that she seemed to be in lala land.
It leaves us though in a bad situation as we will be away for 4 weeks in the summer and we have pets to look after. If we do find another helper in time, not sure I'd be happy to leave someone after only 3 weeks or so of being with us.
Does anyone know if a contract is broken do we have to provide anything end of contract? And also do we have to do anything in advance with immigration before she leaves or just provide a letter within 7 days of the end of the contract?

You need to provide the exact same if she ends the contract as you do if you had fired her. Pay her air ticket home and then on to her home town, any holiday pay she may be entitled to for the time she has worked, final salary and ask her to sign for everything.
