Do I have to give a release letter to my maid?

We are leaving HK for good. We have to terminate my maid's contract before it ends. Now, she is asking me to give her a release letter to pass to Immigration Department. The content of the letter has to clearly state out the reason of termination and our date of leaving HK. Do I have to give her? What is the release letter for?


I thought we just need to notify the Immigration Dept. of the termination within 7 days of termination.


Can anyone advise?

Yes it's only fair. It'll give her a better chance of finding a new job if she has a letter in hand stating that she is being terminated through no fault of her own.
