Maids and Dogs

Ok, I have heard it all now! I own three dogs and I walk them every morning from my house on the Peak to the Mid-levels and back again. I carry plastic bags to collect their poo in and drop these in the required bins. I am the first to get irate when I see dog poo left on pavements etc. I recently stopped a maid who let her large Labrador poo on Tregunter Path and told her she must clean this up.... I got a reply I was dumbfounded at - she told me her employer charges her HK$1 for taking plastic bags or paper out of the house to clean up the dog mess!!!! I initially refused to believe the security guard of the place she lives (we were close by) confirmed this! This is really the lowest of low in terms of Employers taking matters too far. I gave her some plastic bags the next day as arranged. So my question is also, is it not time for HK dog owners to take responsibility and walk their own dogs as well as train Maids of their respnsibilites to clean up after their dogs .....

How incredibly tight fisted, vulgar, and just plain mean of the employer.

I have nothing in principle against helpers walking dogs, as long as it was understood from the start of the employment (or after agreement if the dog is acquired during the contract). I do agree that maids need to be told to pick up the poop. And that the employers should provide plastic bags without discussion. Goodness, if our helper needs a bunch of plastic bags for any reason she'll just take them without even asking.

I can think of a dozen things to do with dog poo to that employer. Unfortunately they would probably all end in the DH being terminated...
