Need recommendation for agency to process visa for helper coming to HK with us

Can anyone recommend an agency?

We are moving to HK from Tokyo and want to bring our Filipina helper with us. My husband is already spending all his weekdays in HK and only flying back to Tokyo on weekends. His work visa should come through in 2-3 weeks.

The kids and I are planning to move to HK before Christmas. I am sending our helper back to Philippines for Christmas and New Year but hope she can join us in HK right after the New Year.

Some agencies are saying that it takes 2 or more months to process visa but HK immigration says its 6 weeks +1 week at the Philippines consulate.

Do agencies really help speed things up? Or do they slow things down? Is it better to try to do this through an agency or should we just try to process the paperwork by ourselves?

Thanks very much!

A good one will get it done in the minimum amount of time. A bad one will pile up applications and then go to Immigrations when it suits the agency.

Certainly it is not rocket science. If you have time, you can do it yourself. If you don't want the hassle, get an agency to do it. It's not hugely expensive, a few thousand Honkies.

Sent you a PM with an agency name.

They slow things down or completely ...and mess things up....!!! DO NOT USE EMERY'S they are a nightmare... I went to them so i didnt have to deal with the backwards and forwards of it all and they told me it would take 8-10 weeks...well I am still waiting 16 weeks later...totally unimpressed...and they said it wasnt there fault..it was a new employee who messed things up...

Its always easier to pass the buck hey...

No good customer service person should ever blame someone like that.

Anyway as mentioned, there are good agencies that get it done fast and well.

We found our helper through Josie James and it all happened very quickly, but then we did everything through them. My friend found her own helper and then had Josie James process the paperwork and I think it was a little longer as her helper had to go back to Philippines.

There have mixed reviews on Josie James, but I didn't have any problems whatsoever. Although I did find out afterwards that they also charge the helper 10% of her first month's wage, which I was mightly p$*^&(d off about, given that we also pay a few thousand for processing. It may be different with you if you already have your helper.

I went through Theresa and found her quite helpful. If you stay in contact with them and have them keep you updated, I find things moves quicker.

Good Luck, it certainly takes the hassle out of doing it yourself.
