the last straw

I have just had a helper who terminated her contract with me after I refused to give her a payrise after two months, and then who chose to leave her "one-month's-notice" a week early, and who then accused me of throwing her onto the street so that she could claim payment for the week she didn't work.


We fought it but then gave in. On the day she decided to go early I had bought her a non-refundable air ticket back to the Philippines for today. Thanks to the way the system is set up, had we gone through the whole claims process we have to buy her another air ticket - throwing good money after bad. We would also have been subjected to an even more of her fictious, harrassing SMS. In short, we decided to give into her demands and get her the hell out of our lives. In the back of my mind I thought, well she is poor and she has got two children ...


Well today I just found out that she shouted 4 friends to dinner last night at a local restaurant! All her sob stories about not being able to afford to educate her children and she blows more than half of what we gave her on her friends (of three months). Now there's a mother's dedication.


What's more she is returning in January to work. I would desperately love to send a warning to the new family employing her. I would hate any one else to live through the lies and hate that she has subjected us to. I would not have her in my house if she was for free. Before the blow-up I turned a blind eye to her lazy approach to cleaning because she made an effort with the kids and could cook. I have learnt that is NOT ENOUGH. You need someone in your house who you is trustworthy and has at least the basic level of moral values.

why dont you inform immigration about it? just write a letter - so they have it on record?

You may find she is fine with adifferent family.

What does,nt work for one family may turn out to be perfect for another so i would,nt blacken her name unnecessarily.
