Helper house rules as amendment to contract?

I really like reading most of the threads here in the forum as I'm becoming more educated as a new employer.

Now my question- if I write down the house rules to the helper and have her sign/acknowledge it, is this considered an amendment to the official contract between me and the helper? If so will I have to inform the Phil consulate and HK labor dept about this?

As I've mentioned I'm a newbie employer, and any thoughts are appreciated.

it's not as it is like an office handbook.

else you need to go notarizing it or something etc etc to indicate that a household handbook is a part of the working contract and will be provided to her upon her employ. you could amend the contract to say that a warning letter will be issue for any violation (for lack of better terms) of household rules and that 3 warning letters is ground for termination. also indicate that household rules or handbook could be amended from time to time as seen fit.

When we have made any changes, like payrise or change to her duties, I have typed out a letter, sat down with her and asked her to read it. If she agrees, then she is to countersign and date it.

I then have given her a copy and attached the original to our contract. I suppose if you want to be really sure, then you could have an independent witness sign also.

But for us, that has been enough.

Whenever I have made changes to her duties, I have changed the helper guideline i have written out and highlighted the change in red and printed it off for her to update her folder.

Like when our 2nd baby came along, she undertook more duties, so I wrote a letter saying that she has been offered a $xxx payrise which will be reviewed after 3 months. If we were happy with her performance, then we will make the $xxx apart of her new salary. I updated the handbook and she has a copy of both, signed.
