Hello, I got a helper with great difficulty who after having worked for just 6 days resigned. I tried to talk it out but she did not have any convincing reason. So I just agreed and let her go. I paid her ticket back home and also one month salary but she was with me just for 6 days...am I legally entitled to pay 1 full month even if she has worked for 6 days? I just find it unreasonable given the fact that there was no reason whatsoever even after i tried talking it out. I have paid but if this happens again, what do I do? I just feel I have been cheated out!! I have also incurred huge agency fees and they say they cannot do anything about it.

SSN, I'm sorry to hear about your helper but she should have been the one to pay one month's salary because she's the one who resigned.
Your only responsibility is her airfare and allowance home.
You should be more aware next time

thanks but if they give me a month notice....should i just let them work for a month and pay them that salary or am i still entitled to get a month salary back? just a bit confused because i was reading the immg book and it said there are 2 types of resignations: 1 month notice and payment in lieu of notice.

SSN, if helper resigns and wants to leave ASAP like your ex helper did, she's not entitled for the 1 month pay as she should be paying you. You only provide the ticket and allowance.
If helper resigns and gives you 1 month notice, she's entitled for the 1 month salary she's worked for, the ticket and allowance and doesn't have to pay you anything.
