Release Letter - what to do?

My helper has terminated for her own personal reasons. Do i still need to give her a release letter? If so, do I need to also send a copy of the Release letter to Immigration or is it sufficient that we have both already given notice (one month ago) to Immigration of her last day?

Make sure that she gives you a written notice that she wants to terminate the contract to avoid any trouble down the line... don't rely on her verbal notice.

We have both given Immigration notice in writing notifying them that the DH will leave on such a date. However, i understand (but not sure about this) that there is also something called a 'release letter' which seems to me to be a letter releasing the helper. However if she has terminated, then am i 'releasing' her? Do I need to give her a 'release letter' - confused about this release letter.

I've had interviews with other helpers and they produced 'release letters' basically saying they worked with X and their finish date and a small reference. Is this mandatory?
