I'm thinking about giving 2000 hkd to my helper for her flight back home (end of contract).
Is that decent enough ?
Thx

See the special offer from CX for helper tickets under the Resources section http://hongkong.asiaxpat.com/helpers/

Note that the plane ticket is not enough. You are responsible for the cost of her trip door to door.

You may also want to check Cebu Pacific. They have more specific inland flights for you to calculate the cost of a ticket from HK back to their home city. (I think that's what axptguy38 means by "door-to-door".) You're supposed to pay for their travel back to their "place of origin". In the case where your helper's home is very far from the airport and involves a substantial bus-ride, some employers will pay for that as well.

What I meant was door to door is that you technically you should pay for the entire trip, from the bus/taxi from your home to the door of their home, including bus rides, ferries and so forth. It's not just the plane ticket.

OK I see, thanks for your replies.

We have found the best way to get the "correct" price for a ticket by calling Sally Travel in Worldwide house. They are used to advising employers on what the current one wat ticket price should be, if paid in cash. In addition they will advise on what a bus fare will be the far end, if one is needed.
In addition to the flight and any bus fare, as axptguy says, you should pay a day's travel allowance to cover food etc) 200HKD is appropriate.
Don't forget when settling up with your helper to list out everything you are paying (two copies):
Salary (for final month/days)
Food Allowance (for final month/days)
Payment in lieu of Notice (if applicable)
Payment in lieu of Leave (if applicable)
Long Service/Severance Pay (if applicable)
Payment in lieu of Air Ticket
Payment in lieu of bus/boat etc in PH
Travel Allowance
and then make sure you both sign them and have a copy each, so that she cannot later suggest that she was not paid the correct amount.
There is a comprehensive example at Appendix V of http://www.labour.gov.hk/eng/public/wcp/FDHguide.pdf
Good luck
