My helper, Has been organising cupboards while we were on holiday, she has also been looking into eg, closed boxes, because she has asked me do I want the spare computer Keyboard which was in a closed un marked box, as she needs it, and do I want the 'foot-roller" which was in a reflexology gift set my daughter gave me as a present, both these things were in a storage/wardrobe which I don't think she should have been looking in let alone open boxes, I am being too sensitive to regard this as an invasion of privacy and personal effects. She often goes to the door with 'things' which she hands to a friend at the other side of our gate, I think she helps herself to the odd little thing, WE have bought her t-shirts, nice pyjamas and slippers from M&S and never seen her wearing them. she prefers to wear tatty looking old stuff, wonder if she is selling the good stuff!

To answer the question, our helper has never felt intrusive to us. Sure, she has folded our underwear and put it away. She has seen my wife breastfeed and breastpump. But she would never do what you are describing.
As the above posters say, give her clear guidelines on the location of "no-fly zones" and hopefully you'll avoid any issues.

errr. inasion of privacy...i mean comon they are basically cleaning out our undies!!!!
but still you should draw a line and tell her what she can and cant do

One solution is to get a safe and/or lockable cabinet/whatever for your important documents. That way even if she can't accidentally snoop in your private papers.
For us, she can look at the rest as much as she likes.

My old helper told me last month that my new helper has been snooping around the house reading all my documents, and I was furious because she was bragging to my old helper that she knew what financial situation I am in, etc etc... I was going to confront her but my husband stopped me, saying I have no proof and this would only cause more tension at home. She has not taken anything so far. So I have become very paranoid and dont leave anything in site for her to look at. I have got a safe and an extra drawer with keys to lock my documents, I have started to leave my purse only in my bedroom, and retrieved the mailbox key from the helpers... Quite stressful feeling someone snooping around your house, I must say.

you have to tread carefully on this issue.
you may feel that your old helper is trustworthy but you should also be wary
it could be that there is some rift between the two helpers, and one is trying to get the other one in trouble.
just make sure that you know all angles and be level-headed, have all the facts straight before making any move.

Ok, thanks for the advice... I decided to terminate her end of this month anyway because she is simply someone who can not follow orders.... aside from the fact that while under her care, my son hit his eye and got a big bruise, but she conveniently failed to mention his injury since he was sleeping already. Like nothing happened.
