Domestic helpers' day off

Hi

Does anyone have experience of giving their domestic helper a day off apart from Sunday? We're trying to find someone who'll work for us who can take a regular day off that's not Sunday and it's really difficult (we have to do this because of our work reasons). Most helpers say that they definitely want Sunday off because their church service is on Sunday. Does anyone have a helper who regularly goes to church on another day, say, Saturday? Don't want them to agree to another day off in the interview and then it later turns out that they're not happy about it but they didn't want to say so.

Or will I have to employ an Indonesian, who's may be more flexible about the day off?

Thanks!

Agree with Cara, most helpers want sundays off even if they're not church goers, but because this is the day their friends have off and they want to meet up. But you don't have to give sunday as the day off, it is not specified in the contract, just that you have to give a 24 hour period off in every 7 days. Just make it clear in the interviews that you will require them to work sundays, and I'm sure you'll eventually find someone.

One of my old helpers always used to go to church on a thursday evening, so there are sevices available apart from sundays.

And my current helper never goes out for more than 1/2 a day on a sunday, even though its his day off, so I think you will find someone willing.

Is it every Sunday or just periodically?

I previously had an Indonesian helper who was not a church goer and she was fine with it. Some Sundays she had off and some she worked.

My current helper is Filipina and she is ok with it too. She works maybe 1 Sunday a month.

Just keep on looking. There are some helpers who prefer to go off on days other than Sunday.

My previous Filipina helper had Saturdays off - her religion - Seventh Day Adventist (church on Saturdays)
