I am looking to use a cleaning company instead of hiring a live in helper. I'd like to hear any feedback or recommendations from anyone who has used these companies. I have enquired with Merry Maids and am thinking of having them come for a trial. I have looked around and they seem to be the most expensive. Are they any good? I don't mind paying the cost if they do a good job. Does anyone have any other cleaning companies which they have used? I appreciate any advice or recommendations. Thanks.

My daughter uses Merry Maids during her helper's prenancy and she says they are good & reliable. She still has 2 coupons left and since there's a time limit for the coupons, she wanted to give them to me as my helper took one week off to go back to the Philippines to see her father who is quite ill. I didn't accept firstly because she had to ask the company if the transfer is applicable and secondly, I don't want to wait around for the helper to come just for the 2 days and have to supervise them (unless it's a long term thing) - so this is just personal preferences.

I believe it is possible to hire a part-time local person who does not live in -- not sure of the links for that though. It is much more pricey though.
I'm curious myself b/c I'd like to do so. But I think you have to sign a contract for X hours a week etc. And I dont like to have such a committed relationship.

I had Merry Maids when I first moved to Hong Kong and found them to be very reliable, efficient & trust worthy. Expensive yes, I agree when you can get a part time local for a reasonable price. Now I have a part time and have to say it was a good move for me personally.
Finding a good part time may take some time & effort but well worth it.
Good luck

I've used All In One Maid Service after I dropped the idea of having DHs. They are pretty good; did get one lazy one, but when I requested for another one, the second one was much better.
